Compassionate children’s dentistry
It is crucial to lay a foundation for good oral health and hygiene with your children as soon as possible. If you educate your child on the best way to take care of their teeth each day, they are much more likely to avoid costly and painful dental interventions in the future. Hygienist Trinh Do and her family talk about oral health!

Hi, this is Trinh with Smile in Style. Today we are talking about family hygiene care. We see patients of all ages in our office from 3 to 93. So today I have my 2 girls with me to demonstrate how important it is to have good hygiene at an early age and that would definitely give out a great habit that will last you a life time. O day I have my daughter Kenzie – she is 7 and my daughter Maddy who is 10. They are going to demonstrate how easy it is to definitely get a good healthy start every morning and a good clean slate at the end of the night. Kenzie here loves even at age 7 unlike other ultrasonic care for kids, it is just so simple I keep that same philosophy – keep it simple you just want to make sure that she doesn’t have to think about it, she brushes her teeth with a timer it has a great app to download on the Ipad or any kid of smart device so that it keeps track of her brushing if she is doing well, it gives her virtual prize. It is a wonderful tool for young brushes, it does really kind of keep them accountable to make sure they are not skipping any kind of moments in the morning or the evening. What do you think about your brush – do you think it is pretty easy to use? Yes. Do you find that it is pretty fun? Yes. Keeps you brushing and not forgetting? Yes! Parents also ask me again what is the best toothpaste for my child, any mouth rinses – but you know what at this age a good fluoride toothpaste is great, you don’t need all the extra control like tartar ingredients or whitening at this age – but it really is all about cavity production so I always recommend a plain phase that has just like cavity protection with fluoride in it, that is al that the child needs. You know Gly makes a great floss I just absolutely love it and this one is unflavored and so the kids are not going to complain if it is too minty or too spicy, and they are going to use it because it is not going to shred, it is not going to break up on them and it is not going to give you that waxy residue that most kids complain about, even at age 7 I do recommend Kenzie use a lounge scraper as well. Breath Rex makes a great one it is nice and flexible so for her small mouth she can bend it as narrow as she wants so she can get way back there and not only for adults but even at her age who wants bad breath right? So we want to try to get Kenzie’s lounge scraper as far back as she can and she is just going to continue gently scraping with her tongue scraper until the film that is on her lounge scraper is clear and that is basically what clean saliva in your mouth should look like so it is going to be clear film. So that is Kenzie basically a routine she does in morning and evening and this makes it really easy. Now we have Maddy who is 10 and now she wears braces and again we have a lot of patients who have braces as children as well as adults and for her routine we have added the air flosser. It is something I highly recommend Sonic Care makes a great one it is definitely your modern day water-pick it is cleaner it is neater and I find that it is more effective and Maddy what do you think about it? It is great! Right? Makes it much easier before your routine right? And so Maddy does use this toll as a repeating regiment and she does follow that up with her floss and again the Sonic Care Kids – it is such a no brainer it is something that she uses the brush head comes off fairly easy to replace every couple of months depending on how often Maddy is brushing and it is something that she also follows up with her tongue scraper. These tools that anyone can use on a daily basis. It is going to make is easy and fun and it is something that they can keep their habits for a life time and hopefully they will continue to keep brushing this way and that has to be handled by mom or dad right. So I hope these tool helped you – these are my favorite things that my children are using currently and they love it as well and they are mom approved and kid approved I think and these tips are great for you and your family as well. I hope that this helps you and I will see you next time on smile and style.
Regular care as soon as the first tooth emerges
Nearly half of the kids will experience tooth decay. Regular visits to the dentist will allow your child to get used to dental visits while they are young and reduce their anxiety. As soon as your child has teeth, they should begin visiting the dentist once every six months. Dr. Do will monitor the health of your child’s teeth and keep an eye out on issues with alignment and spacing so they can be treated promptly.
It is important to encourage independence in your child and allow them to take part in caring for their teeth, but younger children still need a parent to help make sure they are brushing all their teeth properly and disrupting plaque formation daily. Dr. Do will educate you and your child on the most effective methods, and help you understand the role nutrition plays in caring for teeth.
Individualized treatment for patients of all ages
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to dentistry. Certain factors, like genetics and underlying health conditions, will make you more prone to tooth decay and gum disease. Our goal is to design a treatment plan that will prevent problems before they begin.
BEFORE AND AFTER RESULTS

We have invested in high-tech diagnostic tools, such as intra-oral cameras and digital x-rays, so we can identify problem areas and treat issues with the highest level of care possible. This will help children and adults have a comfortable experience each visit, as well as allow Dr. Do to craft treatment plans that will preserve your smile for years to come. Dental visits are an investment in your child’s future health, and regular cleanings will prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and infections that can travel throughout your body.
